Music icon Marianne Rosenberg receives the Golden Planet Award 2024
Marianne Rosenberg is a veteran of the German music scene. She says: “Freedom cannot be taken for granted, it has to be fought for anew every day.” This quote reflects her conviction that freedom is a valuable asset that must be constantly defended and preserved – a topic that plays an important role in her music and her life.
She received the Golden Planet Award for her commitment to preserving cultural diversity and freedom.
She sees music as an important tool for drawing attention to social grievances and standing up for freedom, respect and tolerance. Particularly in view of her family history – her father was a survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp – she speaks out in favor of compassion and the preservation of freedoms that have been fought for and should not be taken for granted.
Rosenberg is also known for addressing social issues in her songs and public statements. Her music and artistic work help to promote tolerance and advocate human rights, for example through her commitment to Roma rights. At the same time, she calls for more equality in the music industry and emphasizes the importance of women being able to act independently.
Although sustainability in the ecological sense is less the main focus of her work, she has a strong impact on social sustainability by advocating for the preservation of cultural diversity and the protection of artists’ rights.
