The Golden Planet Award 2024 goes to Marion Mewis, Berlin

Marion Mewis is known for her outstanding commitment to social and sustainable projects in Berlin, especially for disadvantaged people such as the homeless and those in need.

She says: “For me, sustainability means environmental protection as well as social responsibility – a commitment to those who need our support the most.”

She received the Golden Planet Award for her social commitment and sustainable projects in Berlin.

One of her most important initiatives is helping to set up the Neukölln tea and warming room, which provides hot meals and clothing for the homeless every day and offers advice on social and health issues.

Her work goes far beyond mere support – she has managed to mobilize significant financial resources, including through her management role at Berliner Sparkasse, and she coordinates fundraising campaigns that directly benefit those in need.

Marion Mewis’ approach to sustainability is both socially and practically oriented. She has launched projects such as the “Christmas parcels for the homeless” and has been organizing the distribution of clothing donations, furniture and office supplies to those in need for years.

She also supports disadvantaged schools and workshops for the disabled, which shows that her commitment encompasses many different areas of society.
